Fiji beat Australia in the Pool C of the Rugby World Cup. It is only the third time that Fiji beat Australia in Rugby. Simione Kuruvoli initiated this win with fine kicking that took Fiji 12-8 when the half-time was announced. After that, Josua Tuisova put their share in scoring more. Lalaki Foketi of Australia tried to cut the deficit and took the score 22-15 in the favor of Australia. However, no time came when Eddie Jones’ side could be challenging for Fiji.
It is the first-ever win of Fiji over the Wallabies. Now, Fiji is in the second position of Pool C and surpasses other competitors.
The pair now has six points, as both have played two matches. However, Fiji is ahead because they are better in head-to-head record.
Simon Raiwalui, Fiji’s Head Coach, was thrilled after the match. He said, “I’m emotionally drained at the moment. It was a great contest. It kept us guessing until the end. We pushed the boys to the limits, and they’ve never once complained. There will be a few boys sore, but I’m super proud.”
According to the Rugby World Cup, only the top will play the quarter-final. Therefore, the specific match of Fiji in Saint-Étienne was very critical. The Flying Fijians were defeated by Wales in the previous game. The score was 32026 against Wales. The experts were considering it an uphill battle.
