Saudi Arabian Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo is now in Iran for the Asian Champions League. It is the first visit of any Saudi team since 2016 to Iran.

The current visit of Al-Nassr Football Club is the first visit of any Saudi team since 2016 when the relations between the two countries were disturbed, and there were no diplomatic relations. Now, the relations are restored. Therefore, a Saudi team is in Tehran to face Iranian side Persepolis. Both teams are included in Group E of the Asian Champions League. The match is scheduled for Tuesday. The second match will be between Al-Duhail of Qatar and Istiklol Dushanbe of Tajikistan.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) mandated a home-and-away format for the upcoming matches between the Saudi and Iranian teams. AFC has decided after consulting the two local federations.
Al Nassr’s social media pages have been covering the visit of Ronaldo from every angle. They posted an image where the Portugal captain was warmly welcomed and given a luxurious hand-made Iranian carpet. This gift was from Persepolis supporters.
One of the supporters and fans of Ronaldo wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “Mr Cristiano Ronaldo, welcome to Iran. A token of appreciation, an original hand-woven piece of art made by Iranian artists to commemorate your presence in Iran, on behalf of Persepolis’s fans.”
Until the last reports from Iran, the fans were gathered outside the hotels and surroundings and chanted Ronaldo’s name. Women and children are also in the crowd with Ronaldo’s pictures in their hands.
